Archer IGR
Insect Growth Regulator for Use In
Flea and Roach Elimination, Prevention
Archer is an IGR (insect growth regulator or
growth inhibitor,) a material that inhibits the growth of certain insect pests such as fleas, roaches and several pantry
pests. When used in cockroach elimination Nylar (the
active ingredient in Archer) prevents the immature stages (nymphs) of cockroaches from
reaching the mature adult stage. In its immature stage a cockroach cannot reproduce,
effectively breaking the cycle. When used in flea elimination
Nylar prevents the eggs and larvae in the treated flea population from maturing into
reproducing, biting adult fleas. Other IGR products are more pest specific. Gentrol and Gentrol
Point Source (containing Hydroprene) are generally used in cockroach
elimination. Precor (containing Methoprene) is used in
flea
elimination and is frequently used to help eliminate and/ or prevent cigarette beetle
populations.
Nylar is not an insecticide
Used alone, Archer IGR will help prevent a flea or roach infestation
but is most often used with an adulticide (or insecticide) in flea elimination and roach
elimination programs. For fleas, use 1 ounce of Archer IGR concentrate per 1,000 to
1,500 square feet of area to be treated. For roaches, use 2 ounces of concentrate
per 1,000 to 1,500 square feet.
Unlike Precor (Methoprene,)
Nylar is photostable and can be used
outdoors in flea prevention or flea elimination. When spraying outdoors, use 1 ounce
Archer and 1 to 1 1/2 ounces Permethrin Pro per 1,000 square feet.
Archer IGR can be tank-mixed with insecticides such as Suspend SC (for indoor flea control), Professional
Grade Permethrin (for outdoor flea control) or Demon WP and
other Cypermethrin products (for cockroach control.)
Each pint of Archer is $59.00 plus S&H and will make 16 gallons of
solution, treating up to 24,000 square feet.
