Carpenter Ant Bait

Advance Carpenter Ant Bait, Maxforce Gel Carpenter Ant Bait

In carpenter ant elimination the use of baits is a tremendous aid in the reduction of ant colonies in wall voids, attics and other inaccessible areas in homes, buildings.  By incorporating ant baiting into carpenter ant control programs, the ants do most of the work by carrying the material to the majority of the colony members.  Without the use of professional baits, eliminating carpenter ants requires the use of large volumes of insecticide sprays and insecticide dusts.  Advance 375 Ant Bait and Maxforce Carpenter Ant Bait Gel are the most popular and effective for killing carpenter ants.  Advance 375 is same as Advance Carpenter Ant Bait but with an advantage: granule sizes are now varied to encourage worker ants of all sizes to readily accept the bait.
(See Maxforce Ant Baits, All Ant Baits)

Once a carpenter ant infestation has been controlled (by eliminating colonies living in wall voids, attics,) a pesticide spray should be used on the exterior surfaces of buildings to prevent reinfestations of the ants.  D-Fense SC (Deltamethrin) and Cyper WP (Cypermethrin) are two of the most popular insecticide sprays to use for prevention of carpenter ants, other ants and most general household pests found on homes and business.  (D-Fense SC is the same as Suspend SC; Cyper WP is the same as Demon WP)
Never use any insecticide spray on, close to or around insect baits.  A spray will contaminate your bait, making it unattractive to your target insect pests.  Sprays will also kill the foraging worker ants before they can share the bait material with their colony members.  A bait can be used indoors while the exterior is being sprayed and vice versa, but never combine sprays and baits in the same area.

Professional Carpenter Ant Bait

Maxforce Carpenter Ant Bait Gel and Advance Ant Bait are the best to use for existing colonies of carpenter ants (sometimes called wood ants.)

Advance Carpenter Ant Bait is a granular formulation that is used both indoors and outdoors.  Indoors, it is best to use this bait in attics or voids where foraging carpenter ants can easily find your bait.  Outdoors, Advance can be broadcast around the perimeter of the building, around trees that have dead branches, along wooden privacy fences.  When used as directed, this granular carpenter ant bait is safe for use in homes around children and pets.
For more information on this granular bait and how to order, go to
Advance 375A Carpenter Ant Bait article.

Maxforce Carpenter Ant Bait is a bait in gel formulation.  Labeled for indoor and outdoor use, this product is generally used indoors, in cracks, crevices, hiding places or areas where carpenter ants forage for food in homes and other structures.  The gel formulation makes this bait ideal for placing in small, tight areas around window and door frames, behind light switch covers and electrical outlets and other areas where foraging carpenter ants are seen or suspected.
When carpenter ants are known to be feeding on sugars produced by aphids, use Maxforce Gel on the shrubs or plants where this activity is seen.  Fill several Ant Cafe Ant Bait Stations with Maxforce Carpenter Ant Bait Gel; attach the Ant Cafes to the shrubs.  This will give you an extra tool in fighting the carpenter ants that invade your home and makes your exterior granular baits work better.
