Carpenter Bee Elimination
For Cedar Homes
Carpenter bees cause serious damage to
thousands of homes in the United States every year. Beginning in the
spring of the year, these wood bees (as
carpenter bees are sometimes called) drill holes in wood to lay their eggs.Wettable powder formulations (Demon WP, Cyper WP, Tempo WP) will leave a visible residue on dark surfaces which is undesirable for some people. Cedar and log homes may also be bombarded with carpenter bees which requires special attention. Most of our customers who have these types of homes prefer to use Demon EC or Cynoff EC for their carpenter bee elimination. Both of these products contain Cypermethrin (an active ingredient which gives excellent knock down of carpenter bees) without leaving a visible residue.
There are two excellent pest control kits available for killing carpenter
bees on cedar and log homes:
Carpenter Bee Kit #3 and Carpenter Bee
Kit #9. The kits are identical except for the insecticide dust;
Kit #3 contains Drione Dust and Kit #9 contains Delta
Dust. Drione kills a little faster but Delta
Dust has a slightly longer residual and resists moisture. When Drione
is not available, use Carpenter Bee Kit #9 instead.
Carpenter Bee Kit #3
This Carpenter Bee Kit contains the necessary products for those who have
heavy infestations (of carpenter bees) on cedar or log homes. Each kit contains
1 quart Cynoff
EC , 1 pound Drione Dust, a Crusader
Duster and a 20 gallon hose end sprayer.
These products are also much cheaper to use when treating larger areas or where
high volumes of insecticide spray is required. When treating these larger
areas (on log or cedar homes) use a hose-end sprayer for application. This
allows you to treat exterior walls with greater ease and reach higher areas
without having to use a step ladder. For severe infestations of carpenter
bees on cedar and log, you will need to spray twice (2 weeks apart) the first
month. After your spray has been allowed to dry, apply your Drione Dust to
all possible carpenter bee holes or entry points. Repeat spray and dust as
necessary.
Use Carpenter
Bee Kit #3 if you have cedar siding, log or other such home where volume of
product is needed.
