Indoor Flea Sprays
Not every pesticide is labeled for use indoors for flea elimination pest
control. Many pesticides are labeled for fleas, but for outdoors
only. Hundreds of products are labeled for spraying indoors for household
pests but fleas are not necessarily included on the label. To
kill fleas indoors, always use a spray that is labeled for indoor fleas.
- The first (and most important) characteristic
of an indoor flea control product is safety to our pets and children.
An insecticide that is labeled for indoor flea use will be safe for children
and pets after applied product has been allowed to dry, when directions are
followed. Keep people and pets out of area during treatment and do not
allow them back on the treated areas until completely dry. Common
sense: do not spray foods, utensils, pet toys, children's toys, pet food and
water dishes, etc.
- An indoor flea spray (concentrated materials used to mix and apply
indoors) must be "water safe" for fabrics. This is
interpreted as: if water will not stain your carpet, the pesticide material
will not harm your carpet. The water safe standard makes the product desirable
for use on carpets, upholstered furniture, rugs, tile floors, wood
floors. Note: excessive amounts of water will
any household item mentioned. The amounts of liquid mentioned in this
article are the volumes needed to treat furniture, flooring, baseboards for
fleas and other household pests. Use a little common sense when
treating for pests. Kill fleas and other bugs with contact
insecticides - not by drowning!
- Due to advancements in technology, there is no reason for you to have
to use a product that has a foul odor. Products being used are now
odorless or very low in odor. This low odor characteristic is very
common among the safer, synthetic pyrethrin insecticide concentrates.
