TALSTAR Insecticide

Talstar is a synthetic pyrethroid that is available in both granular and liquid concentrate forms.  When label instructions are followed, it is very safe towards non-target animals such as birds, reptiles and mammals.  Talstar lasts much longer than organophosphate pesticides such as Dursban, Diazinon, Malathion and Acephate.  We have had many reported cases of Talstar controlling molecrickets  and small flies for up to two months, chinch bugs, ants and fire ants for three months!  Only 1 or 2 applications are needed each year for mole crickets.  No special site preparation is needed when treating for mole crickets with Talstar.  Talstar is very effective in controlling Asian Cockroaches, Clover Mites, ants, fleas, chinch bugs and other turf and ornamental pests.

Using Talstar Granules For Mole Cricket Control

Talstar PL granules are best applied through a hand seeder, due to tiny, sand-sized granular particles.  The granules are tiny enough to fall between blades of turf grass (out of sight from birds and pets), penetrating to the ground or thatch area where it belongs.  
Talstar EZ granules can be applied through push type rotary and drop spreader.

Talstar PL granules small enough to blend in with soil; Talstar EZ (regular size granule) is made with a carrier that dissolves when wet.  Both designs were made with the safety of ground feeding birds in mind.  Both Talstar EZ and Talstar PL contain the same amount of Bifenthrin insecticide - the strongest amount allowed without being designated RESTRICTED USE.
Both types work well; Talstar EZ is the most popular.

Using Talstar Liquid Concentrate For Mole Cricket Control

A quart of Talstar Concentrate will treat about 32,000 square feet of lawn when treating for mole crickets, chinch bugs.  That size can double when treating for ants, fire ants.
 Simply apply Talstar concentrate at the rate of 1 ounce per thousand square feet of turf, using your hose end sprayer.  The label rate for killing ants with Talstar liquid is only 1/2 ounce per thousand square feet.  We have seen this product control ants for three months, at the rate of only 1/4 ounce per thousand square feet!
