The discs are much wider and bigger and should be easier for mice to locate outdoors. Our next product for review is not a poison but instead a repellent which is actually the Best Humane Option as it won’t kill even mice and rats and, of course, won’t harm you or your pets. It is a spray concentrate with pure peppermint oil that is supposed to be mixed with water before applying. As it is made with essential oil, it has a pleasant smell to humans and won’t bother you at all but it will irritate mice and other rodents. It can be used both inside and outside, just add 16 ounces of water to every ounce of concentrate to get a ready-to-use spray.
Compared to all products on the list, this one stands out the most. First, it’s a repellent and not a poison or killer, in spite of that it works amazingly with no harm at all so it’s also the most humane option. Secondly, it’s the only concentrate option, so if you don’t want to mess with mixing, opt for the others. Thirdly, you’ll need some additional equipment for spreading this spray around, so prepare yourself in advance.
Sometimes you don’t know how and where to place the bait, that’s where the MouseX All pellets come in. This product comes with bait trays filled with the bait, all you have to do is to open it and place where you’ve seen mice. This product contains 0.25% Warfarin which is effective in mouse, rat, and vole eradication but poses no or low threat to other animals. Also, if it is used as directed (put into a bait station), your pets will be 100% protected from secondary poisoning. In all states, it is recognized as a rodenticide bait and as the safest chemical option for rodent control. Rodents will swallow this rodenticide easily, as the product imitates grain.
Compared to the rest of the list, this is the only option to come in a 4 lb package which, in our opinion, makes it ideal for a large infestation. The other difference is in the active ingredients used with this option having warfarin, while the other products have naturally-derived ingredients. Lastly, all the poisons given above are effective against mice. However, if you have more than that to deal with, i.e., voles, this option should be a better pick.
When you are an owner of a furry friend, you choose mice poisons with caution as you don’t want to put your pet in danger. However, mice cause some major troubles and that’s why we’ve prepared some tips on how to choose an effective mice poison without harming your pet. Consider the form of this or that product you want to buy. As it should be palatable for mice and even mimic their favorite food. We advise looking for poison baits that are smaller in size, like pellets, and grains. However, discs can also work if used properly. Bigger-sized poison baits like chunks might require additional actions from you. You may need to break them into pieces or chop them down.
Always bear in mind that pet-safe rodenticides work more slowly than the ones without such a label. So when applying these products, don’t wait for instant results. Give mice some time to consume the dosage; several feedings are often required. We’d recommend checking the baits and bait stations for at least 3 days. If you have a large mouse infestation, it can take more time to eradicate the scope. Two weeks are already an indicator of whether the poison works or not.
Always check what species the poison targets. Usually, manufacturers place it on the label or their website. Mostly, mice poisons kill other rodents like rats and voles, making them also versatile options.

Poison is not the only solution for mice elimination. These won’t harm your pet and some of them are even humane to mice.
Certainly, some of them do work, these include baking soda, aspartame, cement mix, Vitamin D3, and even mashed potato flakes. However, not all of them are safe to use around kids and pets. So before using one of these, it’s better to consult with your vet.
The answer is no. It is a common stereotype that milk can help a poisoned dog. In reality, it has nothing to do with first aid for a poisoned dog. In turn, it can even worsen the situation as some of the dogs are lactose intolerant and it can lead to stomach upset symptoms.
